A Christian is one who has the life of Christ in him. He is not a Christian because he is born in a Christian family. That is but the natural birth. You need another birth which is new birth of pour spirit to be a child of God. A Child of God must always have a burden for the lost souls. The apostle Paul had a great sorrow and unceasing grief in his heart for his unbelieving fellow Jews. It was that same kind of grief that the prophet Samuel had for Saul. We read that “Samuel did not see Saul again until the day of his death; for Samuel grieved over Saul. And the Lord regretted that He had made Saul king over Israel” (1 Sam. 15:35).

By his own arrogance and disobedience, Saul had made himself an outcast before God and his people. But out of deep love for the Lord’s anointed, Samuel never stopped grieving on the king’s behalf. In the massive psalm that so highly exalts God’s Word, the writer confesses: “My eyes shed streams of water, because they (Israel] do not keep Thy law” (Ps. 1,19:136). Apostle Paul did operate in the joy of the Holy Ghost, just as he told others to do. However, there was this continual heaviness and sorrow in his heart when it came to the unbelieving Jews.

This is comparable to those who have lost loved ones who were very dear to them. In the process of time, they “get over it” to the point that they may be considered very joyful people, but there is always that vacancy in their hearts. In Rom 9:3 He says I wish I myself were accursed, separated from Christ for the sake of my brethren my kinsmen according to the flesh. Paul felt such love that he was willing to relinquish his own salvation and spend eternity in hell if somehow that bring his fellow Jews to faith in Christ.

What about us? Do we have the same heart like Paul. Do you have a burden for the lost in your family. Do you look out for ways to witness to them. Do you pray for them daily? After we received Christ our main goal is heaven & heavenly purpose. Paul said, It’s no longer I that live but Christ that lives in me & through me. Many Christians did not witness to their own people & we know none can go to heaven accept by Jesus who is the ONLY way to Heaven. None are saved by their own efforts. Your good works or bad works does not save you. You may gain the whole world but still you may lose your own soul in hell forever & even the best funeral cannot save someone who is judged for hell.
